Humane Society of Missouri Spotlight Pet

Picture of Mr. Smiley

Hi, my name is Mr. Smiley and my ID is A485449!

I am a 3-year-old Black and Tan Hound mix with the most distinctive smile. I am a good boy who enjoys leashed walks and absorbing any extra attention you have to offer.  I prefer to potty outside and I can entrain myself with toys.  I enjoy spending time with adults and older children.  I have always lived as an only pet and I'd be best in a home where I can be your only four-legged couch companion.  I'm a great boy who is ready for a home to call my own.  Come visit me today.

To adopt: Apply in person at the Humane Society of Missouri’s Westport Area Center in Maryland Heights. Click here for hours and directions.

To sponsor me: Even if you don't have room for me in your house, you can still help care for me while I wait for my forever home. Click here to learn how.

Pet of the Week

Picture of Coco Ree

i, my name is Coco Ree and my ID number is A476491!

I am a 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix with a brown brindle coat with white paws and chest.  I came to the Humane Society of Missouri with an injury and my owner could not afford to treat me.  The veterinary staff healed me and today you'd never know I was ever hurt except for a small scar.  I am an excellent girl who loves going for leashed walks and doesn't pull on the leash.  I am a good-mannered dog who prefers to potty outside and already knows basic commands like sit, lie down, wait, and off.  I know that I could easily learn more tricks especially with a pocket full of tasty treats.  I am claustrophobic and small spaces like my kennel scare me.  Once I am outdoors or even lounging in a office, I'm relaxed and a happy girl. When you come to meet me, ask a volunteer if we can go for a walk so you can see what a great girl I can be!  I have lots of friends: adults, children of all ages and other dogs.  Won't you come take me home so we can be friends too?

To adopt: Apply in person at the Humane Society of Missouri’s Macklind Avenue Headquarters in St. Louis City. Click here for hours and directions.

I am a 6-year-old Domestic Shorthair cat with a soft red tabby patterned coat.  I am a well-behaved boy who is litterbox trained and knows how to use a scratching post.  My previous owners loved to indulge me with table food and treats so I've been on a diet since arriving at the Humane Society of Missouri in January. Our e-tails monthly Ranch Animal

Picture of Joy

Hi, my name is Joy and my ID number is A386336!

I am a 16-year-old mare with a sorrel coat, mane and tail. I am a tall mare, who stands 16 over 16 hands high. I have been trained for riding and I will require an experienced and confident rider. I am easy to catch in the pasture and I make friends easily with other horses.

I originally came to Longmeadow Rescue Ranch in January of 2005 with several other horses. I was very nervous around people and I was infested in parasites, hand overgrown hooves and a poor coat. I was treated for all of ailments and was placed for adoption. I lived with a family for several years but they were are not able to care for me. I am back at Longmeadow hoping that my next adopters will give me the forever home I want most. I am a wonderful mare who would love to be yours.

Please contact Longmeadow Rescue Ranch at 636-583-8759 if you are interested in adopting Joy or seeing other horses and farm animals that are available for adoption.

You can view animals that are available for adoption and learn more about our Adoption Program by visiting our website http://www.longmeadowrescueranch.org/
